This grant to Forever Costa Rica will continue to support the efforts of MigraMar and PACIFICO to obtain legal protection for the Cocos Galapagos transboundary swimway - a corridor between marine protected areas (MPAs) in the Galapagos and Cocos Islands. If successful, this project will serve as a global precedent for transboundary management and set up an effective management through the creation of a binational governance structure. This would be the first protected transboundary “swimway” in the Eastern Tropical Pacific, and perhaps the world.
