These funds will support WCS and its partners to support the Indonesian government in developing and effectively implementing a set of integrated policies and plans to enable the long-term protection and sustainable management of key elasmobranch species. This goal will be achieved by:

  1. developing the national policy, regulatory and institutional framework for elasmobranch conservation and management in Indonesia;
  2. developing and implementing priority site- and species-based elasmobranch conservation programs, thereby reducing pressure on key shark and ray populations;
  3. improving national and local law enforcement capacity to uphold current Indonesian elasmobranch protection regulations.
