This project addresses knowledge gaps on the impact of shark and ray fisheries in West Africa by using Senegal and Mauritania as case-studies. Surveys will be undertaken at large-scale processing sites to understand the impact of fisheries on sharks and rays; assess and estimate quantities as well as species composition of trade; identify regional product trade flows and key regions where monitoring and enforcement interventions are required; and inform policy on fisheries and trade controls.
