Blue sharks contribute 60% of global shark catch (~7 million sharks/yr), providing 41% of traded shark fins and 36% of shark meat. Fisheries are largely unmanaged and underreported. We will help >50 Atlantic fishing countries implement the 2022 CITES Appendix II listing, by incorporating new Atlantic blue shark stock assessments and scientific advice into CITES non-detriment findings e-templates, providing these to Scientific Authorities, and holding an NDF workshop.
