Alor, Indonesia, is a newly identified thresher shark hotspot. Yet, the population is targeted by small-scale fishing communities as a source of essential livelihoods. The project will initiate the joint establishment of a thresher shark conservation policy at District and village levels to stop unsustainable shark fishing. The project will work with fishing communities to include livelihood mitigation strategies in the policy process and implementation.
