Incidental catches of sharks and rays in artisanal fisheries in the Colombian Pacific are high, and current fishing dynamics show a tendency to increase the pressure on these species. The grantee will work directly with fishermen to identify modifications in current fishing gear and practices to reduce the catch and post-release mortality of elasmobranchs in small-scale fisheries. Participatory workshops will be held to define which of the modifications studied could be applied.
