This project aims to undertake the first comprehensive assessment of stingray fisheries in Pakistan to support the conservation and sustainable management of threatened stingray species. Through scientific monitoring of landings, species composition, fishing effort, bycatch, and trade, the project will generate critical baseline data currently lacking in Pakistan. The findings will support the development of conservation measures, fisheries management strategies, legislative recommendations, and potential trade controls for threatened species. The project will work closely with fisheries authorities, coastal fishing communities, seafood processors, and other stakeholders to promote evidence-based conservation and long-term protection of stingrays in Pakistan’s coastal and offshore waters.
